C4 Concepts Focus Series by Sue Curtis

These sessions were designed as supplementary material for a group learning the C4 calls from other sources. All sessions were primarily called by Sue Curtis. Brian Hanechak called one guest tip during the March 2014 session.

Details of the focus areas for each session are listed below. Most of the concepts are not explicitly taught on the recordings, but some hints are provided for harder examples. The "calls level" refers to the older (~2000) C4 teach series, named by "weeks" such as "C4 Week 3", abbreviated "C4w3". Module 4 in the newer (2022-2023) teach series aligns to C4 Week 3. The concepts listed as the focus areas tend to be used heavily. Other C4 concepts are also used occasionally, particularly those featured in a preceding session. The C4 concepts 3x3/4x4, Common Spot, Single, Twisted, and YoYo were taught separately (not recorded) and are also used occasionally on these recordings.

Some “homework” problems are provided in a separate PDF file. These were given to the dancers prior to some sessions. The intention was to encourage dancers to think about the concepts in advance, including some harder examples. You may hear some comments on the recordings mentioning the homework problems.
